I will choose one of the following three essay questions.

    1. How does William Golding explore human nature in the novel, Lord of the Flies?  Use Simon’s death, Piggy’s death, and the killing of the sow as events that illustrate what Golding is trying to say.  What are the events that lead up to each?  Ultimately, what is Golding saying about human nature?
    2. How does William Golding explore human nature in the novel, Lord of the Flies?  Use Chapters 1-4 to discuss Freudian Psychology.  Use Chapters 5-8 to discuss Religion.  Use Chapters 9-12 to discuss Social Structures.  Conclude by explaining what Golding actually thinks about human nature.  Do you agree?  Why or why not?
