To double check the exact heat times and NORTH or SOUTH sites, check the Scholastic Surf Series website. Click the contest tab, scroll down to LA-Santa Barbara High School, and click the heat schedule. Scholastic Surf SeriesDuring the school year, we will try to meet Saturday or Sunday mornings from 9:00 to 11:00 at a local break (usually County Line). We will meet at other times and at other breaks as the waves dictate. We will try to do some Saturday practices. You will want to go out as often as you can on your own. Contact teammates when you go out. It is a lot of fun whenever we can get several OPHS Surf Team members in the water together.Beginners: Try to get out to Mondos as often as possible. To get to Mondos, take the 101 Freeway north past Ventura. The first exit after Ventura is State Beaches (the actual name of the exit is "State Beaches"). Get off at State Beaches, go under the freeway and continue past Emma Wood State Beach. Mondos is the point break about a mile down the road just past the the first group of houses but before the second group of houses. Park in the dirt lot with all the other cars. This is an easy beginner point break with long, fat, and slow waves great for longboarders.Sponsorship and donations: Oak Park High School's Surf Team is a club team that competes in the Scholastic Surf Series (a sub-division of the WSA) in the LA-Santa Barbara division. We receive no funding except through sponsorship and donations. In past seasons, in addition to tremendous support and financial donations from Oak Park parents, we were fortunate enough to have received support, clothing, and discounts from Kreed and Crush Eyewear, Wavefront Surf Shop, O'Neill, Revolution Surf Shop, and Robert's Surfboards. The Surf Team would be honored with any kind of sponsorship donations. These can be made in the name of individuals, families, or businesses. Please contact Coach Kinberg if you are able to make a tax deductible donation.Oak Park High School Surf Team Roster of Athletes:SIX (6) male shortboarders, THREE (3) male longboarders, TWO (2) female shortboarders, TWO (2) female longboarders, ONE (1) coed bodyboarderLA to VenturaDivision Heat Times
